A new Silent Hill film is in the works with Lionsgate Entertainment putting it together as a 3D horror flick, with Konami and Davis Films all attached.

Silent Hill: Revelation is based on the plot of Silent Hill 3. Michael. J. Bassett is both writer and director, as screenwriter Roger Avary is dropped.

Samuel Hadida and Don Carmody are Revelation’s producers. Bassett's previous works include Solomon Kane, Wilderness and Deathwatch. The first Silent Hill's director Christophe Gans and screenwriter Roger Avary were originally attached.

So what's the official movie plot?

"For years, Heather Mason and her father have been on the run, always one step ahead of dangerous forces that she doesn’t fully understand. Now on the eve of her 18th birthday, plagued by terrifying nightmares and the disappearance of her father, Heather discovers she’s not who she thinks she is. The revelation leads her deeper into a demonic world that threatens to trap her in Silent Hill forever."

Konami is currently developing Silent Hill 8 which releases on Xbox 360 and PS3 sometime next year. It's unclear when this 3D film will be releasing but it's likely in 2012. Did you enjoy 2006's Silent Hill as it hit the big silver screen, videogamer?
