Speaking to Strategy Informer Simon Bradbury, head of Stronghold 3 developer Firefly said that he thinks that the industry today almost as flexible as it was twenty years ago.

"There's been a lot of talk recently about digital distribution, Steam-only releases, MMO's, XBLA etc... as a developer there are multiple ways to market yourself. You can mix things up an do something with a publisher and then do your own stuff," he said.

"I like that because for me it reminds me of a time about 15 - 20 years ago where you could make a strategy game in like 6 months with one designer, one coder and one artists. In fact some of the best strategy games came out of that period, and in my mind we're starting to go back to that flexibility to some degree."

Firefly are currently working on Stronghold 3, the next game in their classic Stronghold franchise.

Stronghold 3 is scheduled for an April 2011 release.
